My ISP is PLDT DSL, plan
Sometimes, when it starts to rain, either the DSL will cut off or if I turn on the modem after the rain starts, the modem has difficulty connecting. The DSL light on the modem is supposed to flash then stay on but it just flashes, turns off for several seconds, then flashes again. Usually what I do is I just do something else and wait a few hours and it works again.Power cycling the modem and the wifi router does nothing.
However, once when I tried to call PLDT's hotline (tel number 172), I noted that the DSL light came on while I was talking. Later, I made a phone call to a friend while the DSL light was off due to rain and I noted that the internet was on after the call. Hmmmmm. Could there be a connection??
My telephone line is wired this way. From the PLDT box, one phone line goes to other phones in my house (with filters of course) and one phone line goes to my room where it is attached to a PLDT issued splitter/filter. All calls were made with the phone in my room.
So the next time it rained and I lost internet, I called up PLDT, tel number 172 but after the recorded greeting played, I hung up. Within a minute the internet was on. I've tried it a few times and it seems to work.
Today I tried something else. I had internet but it was a bit slow. Only 300+ kbps. I tried power cycling the modem and router. Sometimes it works but not this time. On a hunch, I tried dialing 172 again and hanging up. Within 2-3 minutes, the speed went back to normal.
Again, I have a hard time believing this. I'm not offering any guarantees. It may or may not work with you.
The end
